Now that I live really close to a nature preserve, I can go hiking whenever I want.
It’s a 5-minute drive from my house and I don’t have to pay a fee when I go.
It’s hard to imagine wanting to go anywhere else when it comes to hiking on a random afternoon. There are other nature parks in my county, but a lot of them have costs of admission for anyone who wants to enter even if it’s just for hiking purposes. These emission fees start to add up after a while. That’s why I’m more than happy to go to the nature preserve near my house knowing that it’s free. It’s also nice to just get out in nature alone for a change. While I’m happy to bring friends with me from time to time, it’s nice to just go alone occasionally.
