I started working at a medical marijuana clinic about 2 years ago. I was a medical marijuana patient myself and that is how I personally ended up with a job at the dispensary. There was a hiring sign in the lobby some afternoon when I went to the marijuana store to buy medical products. I inquired casually about the job and filled out an application on the same afternoon. Two afternoons later, I got that iphone call from the marijuana dispensary employer. I gave our outdated job notice when I was hired. There was no way I was going to deliver up an opportunity to work in the medical marijuana clinic. The new store is so heavily trafficked with people all of the time. Things have been especially hectic since the local laws changed and recreational marijuana is now legal. Both of us have about twice as much stock coming to the store each week and all of us are consistently out of new products, and marijuana sales have been crazy high since legalization took over. There are more and more dispensaries popping up in the neighborhood too. I don’t know if the extra dispensaries will hurt our business, because all of us have the lowest prices in the entire city. Still, it will be interesting to see what happens when this particular little marijuana dispensary has competition. Right now all of us are the only arena in the region. All of that will change when the modern store opens for their own business in the fall. The owner of this business is ready for the competition, however I’m aware she already has advertising ideas and incentives set up for repeat buyers.
